Cyan win MAA Design Competition

 May 2008

IPIA has been forging relationships with five other trade assocations over the past year. The creation of the MAA comprises of British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA), Direct Marketing Association (DMA), Independent Print Industries Association (IPIA), Institute of Sales Promotions (ISP), Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) and Voucher Association (VA).

When Andrew Pearce, CEO of IPIA (Independent Print Industries Association) asked Cyan Group if they would like to put their design skills to the test in designing a logo for the MAA, we jumped at the chance!

When briefed with the challenge of designing the new logo, Graeme Smith, MD at Cyan Group felt that this was the perfect opportunity to showcase just how far Cyan Group has come in such a small amount of time.

A comprehensive brief was provided to us in which we needed to design and create a logo and strap line that would mark the launch of MAA (Marketing Association Alliance) at the Promotional Marketing Exhibition which was held in April. After a series of internal design meetings, Ben Savage, our graphic designer, mocked up an initial shortlist and then with further development into colour schemes etc we submitted our final design to the panel.

Cyan Group, unsurprisingly, were delighted that our design was selected, Graeme Smith explained that "The idea stemmed from a deeper concept of looking in more detail at the MAA as an alliance of six associations who all share a passion and responsibility of objectives that serve and regulate important aspects of the print industry. In my view, the MAA is a 'fusion' of experience, knowledge and commitment within its field, and as a re-established association, it needs a logo to reflect this to the highest standard."

The design side of Cyan Group's business is very much an understated service at present whilst we concentrate on running this additional service and making sure we implement this service successfully to our clients. Winning a design award from the MAA is a great start for us and our clients!
