MD takes on the Etape du Tour

 July 2007

July 17th 2007

Graeme completed the Etape du Tour in a fantastic 12 hours and 12 minutes, achieving a bronze medal for his mammoth effort!

As if the challenge of 5 massive climbs wasn't enough, Graeme and the other cyclists battled against 39c heat.

After the event, Graeme said "Never worked so hard, never want to do it again!"

Thank you to everyone who has supported Graeme in this quest to raise money for two very good causes and also complete his personal challenge.

Today, Cyan Group's Managing Director, Graeme Smith tests his endurance, stamina and maximum heart rate as he experiences a day in the life of a pro cyclist.

The Etape du Tour is a 123 mile ride over 5 Pyrenean mountains - the same route that will be taken by the pro riders during the 15th stage of this years Tour de France, scheduled on Monday July 23rd. Tipped to be one of the hardest stages of the pro tour this year, 8000 amateur cyclists will rise to the challenge today.

Graeme who has been in training since January this year, has been sleeping, eating and breathing cycling in preparation for this big day. As well as cycling a 60 mile round trip to work at least twice a week and spending most of his Saturdays training, Graeme has also competed in the Dragon Ride in Wales, the Hampshire Hilly Hundred and the Cannock Chase.

Graeme is riding to raise money for two charities - Cancer Research and Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital. His aim is to raise £5000 for these charities and we would be very grateful if you or your company would be kind enough to support him and help him achieve his goal by donating using the link below. Each £ you donate will be matched £ for £ by Cyan Group. Your generosity would be greatly appreciated.

We will update you when we hear from Graeme to see how he has handled the course!

Many thanks

Cyan Group
